Does a video show someone burning ballots with votes for Trump? No. Did Michigan ‘magically’ find 138,339 votes for Joe Biden? Nope. What about Wisconsin? Did voter turnout exceed the number of registered voters in the state? A thousand times no. But tight vote counts in battleground states have laid the perfect groundwork for election disinformation to explode online over the past few days. As Steve points out, some bad actors on social media and cable news simply “don’t care whether what they’re saying is actually true.” But not to worry, Dispatch fact checkers Alec Dent and Khaya Himmelman—along with staff writer Andrew Egger—join the podcast today to debunk conspiracy theories surrounding election fraud so you don’t have to.

Until today, I thought a lot of this was 'relatively' harmless rabblerousing. I even had a laugh at Victor Davis Hansen losing his shit on Bret Baier's show last night. But then this morning, I listened to an interview from Georgia's Fulton County Elections Supervisor Rick Barron, reporting a case of a poll worker that was "threatened over false claims and that some of his personal information was leaked". The poll worker is now in hiding at a friend or family member's house, all over a FALSE claim that he crumpled up and threw out a ballot (it was not, it was the information sheet that comes with the mailed ballot). To threaten someone and Dox them is just absolutely unacceptable American behavior. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/524906-georgia-election-worker-forced-into-hiding-over-false-claims-he-threw-away
Are we not at a point where we can assume bad motivations on the part of Trump-world media? Sarah's exasperated, "Why!!? Why!!?" and "No!! No!!" is getting kinda old. She worked in this world. Presumably she knows either 1) people are misleading their audience and 2) people are being mislead. If it is the former, shame on them. If it is the latter, let's move the conversation onto a real question: when does the Trump-fever break? and what does that look like?
